Rogers Art Loft Kicks Off Year Three Roster by Welcoming Painter Sherell Chillik to Las Vegas for Artist-in-Residency

LAS VEGAS (March 9, 2022) – TheRogers Art Loft atThe Lucy, a multi-disciplinary artist-in-residency program dedicated toinclusivity, creativity, and empowerment of artists, kicks off its year threeroster of artists by welcoming Michigan based painter Sherell Chillik for asix-week artist-in-residency through April 17, 2022. Chillik’s work exploresportraiture and narrative through oil and acrylic mediums. While in Las Vegas, shewill create works that explore relationship roles, inspired by biblicalnarratives using realism and acrylic paints and will offer severalopportunities to engage with the community.

Sherell Chillik will host an Artist Talk on Thursday, March 17 at 6p.m., a collage-making workshop on Saturday, April 2 at 6 p.m. and will offer aculminating event for the community on Thursday, April 14 at 6 p.m. All eventsare free to attend and will take place at Rogers Studio Gallery (620 S. 7thStreet, Las Vegas, NV 89101). Refreshments will be provided by PublicUs.  To ensure the health and safety of all, RSVPsare encouraged, and face masks must be properly worn except when eating ordrinking.

Community Event and Workshop – Saturday, April 2 at 6 p.m. atRogers Studio Gallery

Artist Sherell Chillik will walk attendees through acollage-making workshop. This workshop will focus on themes of togetherness andlove. Attendees will explore elements of art and create conversations aboutinterpretations of the meaning of love. This workshop is for community membersof all creative paths. RSVP here to attend

Join Sherell Chillik at the Rogers Studio Gallery for theculmination of her residency project, “With One Accord.” Featuring works thatexplore relationship roles, inspired by biblical narratives using realism andacrylic paints. An accomplished artist, Sherell Chillik was born in 1993 inDetroit, Michigan. She received her BFA, painting at College For CreativeStudies, in 2018. Chillik’s work explores portraiture and narrative through oiland acrylic mediums. She has shown work and participated in the AICAD Residencyin Dumbo, Brooklyn, New York, and volunteered to create murals around theBrightmoor community of Detroit from 2012 to 2015.

Chillik currently teaches private and public art classes in Flint,MI, and has participated in local art events and fairs to engage with hercommunity. Her most recent shows include "The 59th Annual Thumb AreaArtists Exhibition" in Romeo, MI, "State of the Arts" in PrairieVillage KS, "Women's Show" at Norwest Gallery in Detroit, MI, and the"Art Beat Miami" Annual Exhibition.
